I'm really sorry to hear that. I have found my Kindle to be absolutely wonderful and very user friendly, both in ergonomics and software design.
In fact ... I really love my Kindle (took it to a party with me last night and probably "sold" another few units as a result). However, I don't know if they are available outside of the US, and I'm sure the Whispernet coverage doesn't extend to there .... not that you couldn't use it without that.
I hope you are able to find something in Canada that works for you ... and soon. I would be lost without a steady source of books to read.
