Google won't be able to compete with Amazon until they get a better over all eco-system. Yes, they have a reasonably decent app where you can purchase and read books... but that is about it. The one dedicated reader they support is essentially exiting the market because of lack of support and because it didn't follow the trends in ebook readers (i.e., no touch screen, no real browser, etc.).

Essentially, right now, Google is an also ran to Barnes and Noble, they are not even in the game with Amazon (at least in the US).
