I first read the Travis McGee books in the late 70s, and decided to start re-reading them a year or two ago. But, of course, no ebook versions available. So, I figured I might as well create my own while I was in the process of re-reading them (I own the paper books set). I've scanned in the first 10, and have proofread the first 5 so far, turning them into beautiful, simple, clear typo-free HTML. I figure I'll want to re-read them at least once more before my eyes stop working, and this way I'll have them when that time comes.
It's too bad the people that own the publishing rights have a stick up their butt (or wait, is that their head?), as I'd gladly have paid $2.99 apiece to buy them again in e-book form. Their loss. (Although I suspect my self-made e-book copies are much nicer than any they'd produce anyway, certainly with fewer typos and formatting errors!)
