I bought this way back in October 2009. It seems like an interesting epic fantasy, but I'm only just past the prologue, so we shall see.
Well, for me it turned out not to be interesting. I've got about half way through it and I'm just not interested. Abandoned: Too much of an attempt to be epic, an entirely unconvincing world that seems to treat its inhabitants as puppets, and far too much back story shoved in willy-nilly.

The prologue worked OK. The first half of the book did not. I won't be bothering with any more in this series.

Next up: Captain Flandry by Poul Anderson, part of a Baen monthly bundle I bought back in October 2009 as well (but a different monthly bundle to the previous book).
