I'm aware of Adobes even more customer unfriendly policy. That's why I have a Kindle (which can be deregistered to transfer the licence to another device). It's just that I do not want my public work computer and my colleagues account to be filled up with "my" books. ("My" since, apparently you don't buy a book but just buy the right to read it on a device dictated by Adobe).
Anyway, there are means to work around the ADE in order to read the mentioned books on my Kindle..
