No, I don't think a reset will make any difference. You should read the thread about Excessive Battery Use for more info about this type of thing:

It is often recommended that you try your Touch thru at least say 2 or 3 changing cycles, to let the battery stabilize. However, the problem with this idea is that by the time you do this, it might be out of the 14-day return warrantee (you'll get a refurnbished unit instead). But you could at least try recharging it a few more times (since it is draining SO rapidly) to see if it starts behaving. But watch the number of days and return it within the 14-day period if it doesn't start behaving before then.
