The problem seems to be that you don't want to get the point that this is not a unique construction.
Say you live on rent in an apartment with your family and your kid plays music very loud and disturbs the rest of the house - then you will be held responsible and it is you who has to hold your kid responsible.
The landlord will not deal with the kid.
This has nothing to do with guilty or innocent.
Has to do with the contract you signed.
