Wallace, Edgar: When the Gangs Came to London. V1. 12 March 2012

This is based on the Gutenberg Australia text file, with a few minor corrections to OCR errors.

However, the GA edition was rather arbitrarily divided into just 8 chapters, while the book itself has 28 short chapters.

I have restored the original chapter structure and cleaned up the few typos.

The AG text is better than the 1957 Arrow paperback: in that edition, a substantial chunk of text in Chapter 2 is in the wrong order, making nonsense out of the chapter.

The novel was published a few weeks after Wallace died. Reflecting his recent USA experience, the novel has two Chicago gangsters moving into London complete with protection rackets, brutal murders, and tommy guns in the streets. Quite lively, although the Chicago mobsters speak a variety of American unknown in Chicago.
