There are *two* versions of Win8 Tablets coming; one with x86 CPUs and one with ARM processors. Both will run full Windows and most Win8-specific software.
But *only* the x86 tablets will be backwards compatible with existing windows software.
As a ten-year user of both Windows TabletPCs and WindowsCE devices, it is the x86 tablet platform I'm most interested in but since Win8ARM will be getting MS Office, if the price and hardware is right I wouldn't hesitate to get one.
Everything I've seen about Win8 suggests it is going to be a *very* good mobile OS--the question is how good the hardware be.
