It's to be sayed that constantly showing the 'standby picure' would not in any case drain the battery. Showing a constant screen content does consume zerro power.
The older readers doesn't have the ability to show e.g. the book-cover. With altering the software (PRS+) it's possible now (no battery drain of course). Even when the reader ist totaly switched off. It's a question of software.
Besides: There is no 'burn-in' effect on an EInk-display. Showing something on the screen does not consume power - no glowing of whatever - no 'burning'.
It's irrelevant wether the reader is in 'sleep-mode', in 'normal-mode' or switched off.
