When I purchase a paper book, I receive the right to lend it to someone else. I can, for that matter, give it to a library. Shocking, I know, but I have in fact done this very thing.

The points you make above are actually one of the reasons I buy printed books more than e-books, despite loving my e-reader. It's because I can do whatever I want with the book when I am done. Just so much more legal mileage.

And I have gotten so tired of the overexaggerated fragility of books - There are books at our local library that had already been there for decades before I started using that library and are still, the same identifiable copy, being used 16 years later.
