I'm pretty sure we're saying the same thing.

We were just clarifying the difference between Latin (or Latino, or possible Hispanic) culture and peoples, and the Spanish language, and the Latin (from Rome) language.

Originally, Harry was just pointing out that what you wrote, in English, implied your first language was Latin. I'm pretty sure he actually knew what you meant.

As an American, I would call someone Spanish if and only if I knew they were from Spain.

And, BTW, I made no analogy.
