Amazon's book description only states, "When they began in 1812 they had just 86 stories."

A customer reviewer on that page, Noam Josephides, writes: "On December 20 1812 they published the first volume of the first edition, containing 86 stories.... This book is the exact first edition that was published in 1812, without any alterations."
