So I finally I have been able to update. I do use Facebook so have no problem with the Timeline feature. And the introduction of this means, at least at first glance, that the only significant Kobo for iOS feature not yet on the Vox is support for Places and Faces, but given that this is supported so badly by Kobo and/ or publishers (the list of books with Faces and Places data is tiny and apparently completely random) I guess it hardly matters. But still, I think it's a a shame this pleasingly meta feature is being so neglected.
I am not madly keen on the 'recommended for you' widget but will leave it situ for now.
One rather irritating little glitch: I had three books by Bernard Cornwall in my library. When the update finished, the selection of recommendations generated when I launched the library app included two books by him. The system saw this as me now having five books by Bernard C in my library, so I was immediately given the Fanatic award. I guess recommendations are seen as the equivalent of previews, but still, I would have preferred to have earned properly the Fanatic award by actually adding five (whole) books by the same author to my library.
Which leads me on to my next comment: come on, Kobo, we want some new awards! There are so many possibilities for these and you should adding new ones all the time. I must try and join the beta testing group to push for this.
