Thanks! I have a bunch of distros on separate partitions, and I'm now running one where Calibre has run without problems for many months. But now it doesn't, and it generates this error:
Code:
/opt/calibre/bin/calibre: error while loading shared libraries: libcalibre-launcher.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
With this distro I get this:
Code:
@pc1:~# env | grep LANG
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=
Later today I'll switch to the distro that gave me the original errors reported above, and I'll post the grep results for it.

Later: The above was done in Kubuntu. I just tried it in Lubuntu, which gave me the errors in the original post.
Code:
~@PC1:~# env | grep LANG
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
