The Ring of Fire

I have picked up an electronic copy of book 2 in the series, I have read book one, which has brought a few questions to mind that forum members might be able to help answer: First, I have read that there are a few books about people and towns that have been displaced in time. Other than the Ring of Fire series other series that comes to mind about a town or people displaced in time is TV's Land of the Lost, Back to the Future and Star Trek does displaced in time regularly, can anyone think of another book about a town displaced in time? I have checked some of Eric Flint's facts with Wikipedia and it seems that some of his facts are slightly off, how historically correct are these books?
