In an open database there are a lot of data in use or even in cache. If you try to rename/delete a database while you are using it this is like to kick the ground under your feet’s. That’s why it works like it is today. It’s not a bug; it’s more like a safety feature.
After you had check the database you know exact what database you want to delete, so there isnīt any risk to switch to another database and then remove or rename the database you want to delete. It’s surely one more step but this way is far safer for Calibre and its users.
