That is a function of the eInk screen. Due to the way the screen works, without the flash, the screen would gradually fill up with ghost images of previous pages.
Some brands of readers allow you to set when the flash occurs, but I think having it flassh every several pages would be harder to deal with than every page.
It does seem, from reports, that some T-1s are more obtrusive than others.
But overall, I think you will stop noticing in a bit. I had to actually look carefully to see if my PRS-600, PRS-650, and PRS-350 actually flashed, and they do. I just don't notice it any longer.
