Music on an iPod Touch can sound flat, tinny with a lack of depth and bass. Overall, Apple has lost it's focus on music by not putting in good parts for the audio.
I suggest going with a Cowon music player since you have other smartphones. Cowon has very nice sound, That's part of their signature.
