I guess you are right. I have been trying it at Best Buy at least twice a week over the last month and never pulled the trigger. Like you said, a want versus a need.
Too much duplication with what I'd use the Touch for versus my smartphone except IOS and I'd have to agree that isn't a compelling enough reason, if there are really any for those having a nice smartphone.
I really like the ppi for the display on the Touch but the screen isn't large enough for me personally especially for browsing. But since I feel the display is small, jailbreaking does give access to games on one's HDTV with the connection cable (or Apple TV) so that is something I thought about as well. And I'm sure there are some good games on IOS which aren't available yet on Android. Video playback without jailbreak would be a nice to have feature as well and I'd probably use from time to time.
So you see I've done homework!

Maybe on a large Apple forum I can find more folks who took the plunge who own a nice smartphone.
