To those new users of Kindle who want to know the answer of connecting to your wifi, Bigpond have solved the problem.
This answer is for BIGPOND users, have your modem in front of you, when your reader scans for wifi it will bring up your modem no BIGPOND???? it will then ask for your password which is just under modem number WPA???????? enter the numbers and voila! your are connected.
