Try this:

Delete all books on your reader or format the reader. Copy just one or two books onto the reader and go on using your reader.

Quick discharging is sometimes caused by one distinct Ebook (whatever the technical reason is). Deleting this Ebook removes the problem. If that was the root fo the problem.

I would give the 650 this chance because it's a very good product.

Hm, I would be unsure too. A used reader has a used battery which could have reduced lifetime.
