Yes, that's what I do when I hold it with my right hand. I will also use my right hand index finger to hit the next page button. So, I can read one handed with either my left or right hand.

However, I usually hold it in my left hand just below the screen and turn the page with my right hand, just like I would with a book. I find that the most natural.

I have yet to take the cover out of the plastic bag. Now, with my Sony it came with the cover attached and folding it back worked perfectly well. The device is so thin that even with the cover it isn't a problem. The Kindel cover plus the kindle just seem to thick for me. But, I will have to try it.
