After I wrote on this thread the last time the replacement Kobo also croaked. It ran fine at first but DH set it aside in its case because he had some physical books he was reading next. When he tried to use it again at least a week later...bar code!

As it was sitting on a shelf in a case after regular gentle use, all we could think was that the repair (it was a refurbished unit) hadn't held. It did that power button flashing many times thing, the pc can't see it..all like the first time.

I let them know about the failure around mid January and then played email tag. Usually a few days to a week goes by between answers. We finally got offered an RMA - and also were told that black wifi's are gone, is grey okay? Sure, fine. We mailed the defective unit back to them. We know they got it Feb 18th and... we're still waiting to hear back about the replacement unit. I mailed them a polite reminder 2 days ago. Hopefully this will jar someone's memory

Patience is definitely a requirement when dealing with Kobo!
