Gran Turismo 5 took Sony 5 years to get out and that was just one game, whereas Pottermore is a whole "Online destination", probably closer to a MMOG than a "mere" bookstore. For example, DCU online took Sony almost 3 years. They announced Pottermore last fall so figure they started work last summer; could easily go as far as 2015.
It wouldn't surprise me to see her new novel hit ebook stores before Pottermore is ready for Prime Time.

What's the rush, anyway?
