Thanks I got it.
My best friend is a direct descendant of Raphael Semmes. His father was Captain James Semmes who took his Destroyer, U.S.S Frankford (DD479), inshore at Omaha Beach and shelled Artillery Positions, Mortar positions and German Infantry to help the men trapped on the beach. He is credited with helping to save the landings at Omaha Beach. The link shows the Valor Awards he received during WWII. the second one is for his actions at Omaha Beach. He was a very unassuming man and most people never new of his actions during the war.
