How bad is the PRS-600, I read fine in my iPad, and I did have a PRS-300.

I'd run away from the 600. I had a 300 & the hubby pushed me to get the 600 at the time. I chose not to. I found the difference to be huge between the two of them. To me, it almost made me feel like I was a little stoned or drunk. The screen wasn't overly blurry but it sortof was & you almost weren't sure if you were imagining it or not. It was almost like trying to read something that had a very thin film of vaseline on it.
I found it almost gave me a headache from trying to focus on the text and this was only after playing with it for a while in the store. I couldn't imagine reading on it long term. Being from Brazil I'd say stay away from the Nook. B&N won't help you if you have any issues and you will also likely have a hard time getting books for it.
If you already have Sony books you might want to stay with them unless you're comfortable with the DRM removal. If you could get a T1 I'd say get that but if not, don't get the 600. Everyone has their own opinions but I really didn't like it.
