This is the kind of thing that kept flashing through my mind throughout this whole thing. That's the kind of set up she *should* have really.
It opens up a few cans of worms though:

- cost
- how would she switch the computer on/off
- how much could realistically be accomplished with voice control, and how much would be manual
- would she be able to switch between TV and PC without outside intervention
- are the learning curves too much for an elderly person who's not used computers before

Somebody mentioned Dragon voice recognition earlier in the thread so I wondered about that in conjunction with a tablet.
Anyway it all seemed a bit ambitious in the end, so we decided to stick to the E-Reader for the moment and see how she gets on with that. If that works out OK, maybe we'll look at a computer/tablet afterwards.
