I don't have one, but considered getting an Archos a little over a year ago. Held off due to reports on boards about build quality issues. Reviews of this one seem to indicate it's still iffy.

I'd go with a tablet from one of the electronic giants. The Sony goes for 400 new now. you also see deals crop up for the Xoom, Acer, etc. And with the new wave of 2nd generation devices coming (Xoom, Transformer Prime HD), there should be all kinds of deals soon. iPad 2s are about to be cheaper when the 3 comes out (I understand your qualms with them).

And there will be an Amazon 10 inch coming soon.

I'm no tablet snob (loved my Pandigital as a reader, RIP). But I would be a little leery getting the Archos unless you got a great price.
