There are least appears to be one or two ways to unlock it and install CM7 on it. Beyond that, I don't believe there is a way to simply root it and install the android market to the best of my knowledge, as it is part of the ROM that actually prevents non-B&N apps from running, so you'd have to remove the ROM and install a new one.
I am mildly interested in a nook tab, but at the same time I just don't have the spare money for a curosity for rooting and playing around with. I certainly never would buy one with the intention of leaving it "in one piece".
