I am just wrapping up the series and have to agree that the first book was riveting. It has been a long time since I had to finish a book in one sitting but that really was the case with book one. The second and third have been okay but have been easier to put down and come back to.

I found the violence not too bad. Lord of the Flies was much worse and way darker (IMHO).
