My (boring) practical side is telling me it's sensible to hold off another few weeks to a) save up a few more pennies and b) see if the Mentor's going to look like a contender. If you go back to posts before september 2006, most people logged in had no reader at all and were waiting for the Sony. Only the iLiad was on the market as far as eink and most posts were rants. Of course there were other means of portable reading such as PDAs, phones and laptops. Still today, many people don't have a reader, don't forget that this is the reason for MR to exist in the first place; distributing information on mobile reading.
You have a benefit for waiting, more, cheaper and better tools are always on the way. Hang in there!
