Or they could argue that the new arrivals brought new plants and animals that have wiped out the vast majority of the indiegious plants and animals. Not to mention changes to their culture, language, and traditions. They lost their native lands and were treated poorly, like most Native populations in the US and across the globe.
Perhaps there are Native Hawaiians who take pride in their culture and heritage and would have prefered to allow their traditions and culture dictate how their government and lives changed over time instead of being forced to change.
