The first thing that pops into my head. Could your AV or security program be deleting something on the Kindle? What O/S are you running?
I'd try a factory reset and see if that fixes. If not your Kindle may be defective.
Do you have another PC you can test it on? The only thing I can think of is try a different USB port, different cable or both.
