Low light, warmer (yellow) light from incandescents, or white light like those from leds and TL lamps?

I suppose there must be a sweet spot somewhere, like reading with a 25, 60, or 100W incandescent bulb on your night stand...?
As far as I can tell it's best for everything - colour, contrast, sharpness - to have as much sunlight as possible (or other white light I guess) blasting on to it. So a 500W ultrabright white LED floodlight would probably make a good reading lamp.
