There's a lot of info on this on MR but I have always followed best practice advised here a while ago with T1, 3/650's, and Bookeen, which was ....

Never power off unless not using it for week + .

Charge when down to 1 bar at lowest, and don't use on zero.

Don't worry about overcharging, it won't, so overnight is fine.

Use a wallplug, not PC.

This improves the battery performance - every reader I've used this system on has greatly increased battery retain charge time - and it's life.
Which, given the cost of replacing one should you need/want to seems to be A Very Good Thing.
