I'm new to this forum, and it suggested I introduce myself.

I'm medically-retired 16-year veteran of the US Army. Not medically-retired in the way you might think -- despite bullets and IEDs and fights in Panama, Desert Storm, and Afghanistan, I luckily never got a Purple Heart. And I was Airborne Infantry, the tip of the spear. What I did get is severe osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia, which will get worse as time goes by. In other words, lots of surgery and increasingly-powerful medication are in my future.

But anyway, I have a BA in History, a keen interest in that and science, and a head for seemingly-useless trivia which often ends up useful someday. And I've been fooling around with computers since 1995, so I've built up some knowledge there.
