I was talking about Harry's New York Bar, but the one in Paris. The Bloody Mary was created by Fernand Petiot when he worked at Harry's New York Bar in Venice, but he admits that all he did was modify George Jessel's recipe a little (so I didn't include the Bloody Mary in the above list).

By the way, the Paris and Venice bars are not connected, but the Venice bar was probably capitalizing on the fame of the bar in Paris. The one in Paris had originally been located in New York and was shipped to Paris -- but the name wasn't Harry's Bar when it was in New York. The one in Paris is named after Harry MacElhone, who is from Scotland, and who bought the bar when the original owner had financial problems.

This is definitely not a snazzy drink. I think you are right about the Astor House and the Park Hotel, but on this one I'm just relying on a quote I read in and old article by Time Magazine.
