Privacy is not extremely important to me. Still, if I could borrow public library copyrighted eBooks, in Kindle format, without going through an Amazon server, that would be a (slightly) good thing. Non-users of my freeware KinCleaner program would benefit even more from what you describe, since they wouldn't need to delete library return notices.
