At last I've found someone else who feels the same as I do about "A Confederacy of Dunces". I read it because it was recommended by a friend who enjoys many of the same books I do, but I failed to see the attraction.

Ditto on Harry Potter. IMO a mediocre book about a mediocre boy wizard.
