I have both a Kindle Keyboard (3G) and a Kindle Fire. I sideload >90% of my books, regardless of where I buy them from. I almost never use the Fire for reading books. I use the Kindle Keyboard for reading. But I also like to read the New Yorker magazine. THAT is a pleasure on the Fire. If you read newspapers and magazines, then the Fire is a good choice.
