Perhaps you might like the Nanny Ogg's Cookbook which ties into Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. It's written like a real fake collection of recipes and anecdotes and sketches from that character's point of view.

Also, speaking of Indiana Jones: Back From Yet Another Globetrotting Adventure, Indiana Jones Checks His Mail And Discovers That His Bid For Tenure Has Been Denied.

Don't know if you're interested in graphic novels, but there are several that I've seen that are somewhat like the kind of multimedia mixture of stuff that you might be interested in.

And Neil Gaiman's excellent alternate universe Sherlock Holmes short story comes formatted like a Victorian newspaper serial complete with fake ads. He offers it free to download in PDF off his website: A Study in Emerald
