I read for a couple of years on a Clié PDA; I've got no problems reading on small screens or with a backlight. I eventually switched to e-ink because I was tired of the battery dying mid-book, but I still wish I could find a hand-sized reader with a 15-hour battery life.

Nice to meet someone else who likes reading on a small screen!
