Last year, President Obama visited Australia. As happens on such occasions, he made a speech praising his host nation and listing some of its many achievements. However, his speech raised eyebrows among the historically aware on both sides of the ditch (aka the Tasman Sea) when it gave the Aussies credit for a distinction that most definitely belongs right here in New Zealand.
