little more research
Looking at the Kindle as a disc in Win7, in the documents directory -
1. - News publications emailed by Calibre show up as files with a .pobi extension.
2. - publications downloaded to the Kindle from Calibre while the Kindle is plugged each show up a separate directory, with the directory extension of .sdr. The actual file, in the directory is a type .mbs
The first (1) can't be deleted from the Kindle. The second (2) can be deleted.
I deleted the 4 I had downloaded (.pobi) "by hand" when the Kindle was plugged in, using Windows Explorer. The result seems ok.
I like the idea of new publications showing up on my Kindle, even when I'm not around my computer. So this might be an acceptable compromise - email the files, and when I finally get back to my office, plug the Kindle in and hand delete all of the .pobi files.
Does this all make sense???
