This is the Android equivalent to Apple's Siri.
Iris vs. Siri:

So I asked iris, What is the weather like in Windsor, Virginia? Not only did iris come back with the current weather conditions but it also popped up a small weather forecast for today and tomorrow. Very cool.
So I tried another question: How many inches in a foot? iris answered it perfectly.
And another: How many milligrams in a gram? Another perfect answer.
I told Iris "show me a video of a cat singing" and iris returned a funny answer and up popped a YouTube video of a cats singing.
While iris obviously won't be able to answer all your love life questions it does do a pretty decent job on most basic questions. If iris doesn't know the answer it usually comes back with a humorous response. Because iris is in the alpha stage expect it to only become better over time. The best part is that iris works on the eDGe.
Here's what you will need to make it work:
1. Download Voice Search. Many of you may already have this installed.

Note: iris requires a TTS engine to work and either TTS Extended Service or PICO TTS (
http://areacellphone.com/2010/01/dow...age-installer/) will work.
If you already have installed PICO TTS installed you do not need TTS Service Extended. I tried iris on my Viewsonic gTab with PICO TTS only installed and it worked fine. However, I highly recommend TTS Service Extended because it is a text-to-speech library manager. TTS Service Extended allows you to change speech rate and language.
2. Download TTS Service Extended if desired (
http://androiddev.orkitra.com/downlo...oogle.tts_v3.1 or
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25986798/TTS...20Extended.apk). Open TTS Service Extended and make sure eSpeak TTS is checked. Close the App.
3. Download iris:

To use iris, simply touch the small circle at the bottom of the screen and it will turn red, wait until AFTER you hear a short beep and then ask your question or state a word or phrase.
Here's some more questions to ask iris:
Why is the sky blue?
Should I watch the movie Sherlock Holmes?
How many liters in a gallon?
How tall is the Empire State building?
Tell iris you want to jump off a bridge and wait for the response.
