the BBC series Red Dwarf did a great job at making a mockery of every conceivable sci-fi trope that had been established by Star Trek and other sci fi series. My all time favorite is when they are about to go into battle, and Rimmer says "Go to red alert." And Kryten says, "Are you absolutely sure, sir? It does mean changing the bulb."
