I checked to see if the cursor went to the current tab. It doesn't. But this has become strange.
This doesn't happen if I am going down the file - only if I am going up the file. Example:
The files are named sequentially from XYZ_split_000 to XYZ_split_050. I go to XYZ_split_005 and right click then select rename. I then type in C1 and without any intervening keystrokes I right click the file below. This closes C1 and allows me to again select rename. ---But---
If I scroll down and right click XYZ_split_045 and rename it C45 and then right click XYZ_split_044 the book browser displays the top of the files and highlights a file in the middle of the display. Very strange.
*****Mistake in describing symptoms*****
Example:
I go to any file and right click. I then select "rename" and enter the new file name and without any intervening keystrokes right click any other file. It will close the current file and allows me to again select rename and continue. ---But---
This only works if the top entry of the book browser is in the display window. If the top entry is not shown, the right clicking of the next file will close the current file renamed and highlight a file further up the display window after re-displaying from the top. Which file it highlights is based on its own algorithm using the number of files hidden and which file is selected for renaming.
I hope this makes sense - it confuses me.
