The Bobbsey Twins, or Merry Days Indoors and Out, first published in 1904.
The Bobbsey Twins are two sets of fraternal twins. Bert and Nan, age 8, had dark brown hair and brown eyes, while Flossie and Freddie at age four had light hair and blue eyes. They live with their father who owns a lumber store and their home-maker mother. The family employ a black couple, Sam and Dinah, to cook and care for the home and property.
This is the first book in the famous series produced in the early 1900s by the Stratemeyer Syndicate. Laura Lee Hope is a pseudonym used by the Stratemeyer Syndicate for many books for children.
