You have to admit this is a big change over the last 6 months since the Kindle has been available. For the Sony reader also if you are talking "out of the box" experience the Sony bookstore was the only source for copyrighted material (yes Baen, Steven Jordan, scifi-az notwithstanding) and they costs of many best sellers and new releases was usually list price.
I currently think the Sony, CyBook and Kindle are the best three choices out there... they all have slight differences and upsides/downsides. To each his own
I have a Sony 500 because it was the "only" choice when I bought it and I couldn't justify the Sony bookstore prices... so I went elsewhere for ebooks, learned to break LIT drm and convert. But, the average user won't do this stuff. Now the Kindle is alot more convenient for me. Although I am still on the fence as to keeping it due to the ability of Kindle ebooks being locked to that device (unless I want to get more Kindles.)
